The South West Wind

15.00

Two musical generations meet when Peter O’Loughlin, fiddler and flute player, joins forces with Ronan Browne, a young piper and flute player. In a brilliant exposition of contemporary traditional music, the influences are largely those of west Clare, while the spirit of Willie Clancy, Peter’s good friend and Ronan’s lifelong inspiration, permeates the album.

Ronan Browne: Irish pipes, flute
Peter O’Loughlin: flute, fiddle
Tierna Browne: fiddle

"A certain Greek philosopher said, 'Change the music of a country and you change the face of it.'  Congratulations, therefore, to Peter O'Loughlin and Ronan Browne on this their recording of the 'unchanged' music of our country played with impeccable taste and balance.  This is also most evident on the last two tracks which include the fiddle playing of Ronan's sister Tierna.
